Kevin ‘Reese’ Saunderson is an American electronic music producer. At the age of nine he moved to Belleville, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit where he attended Belleville High School and befriended two students, De rrick May and Juan Atkins. Saunderson, with Atkins and May, (often called the “Belleville Three”), is considered to be one of the originators of techno, specifically Detroit techno.
His seminal acid track Rock to The Beat, recorded under his ‘Reese’ pseudonym with close friend Santonio Echols was released on FFRR in the Second Summer Of Love in 1988. Shortly afterwards Belgian new beat band ‘101′ made a cover version which performed equally well across Europe
The track in all its forms remains a classic defining feature of the Acid House explosion, and helped to launch the long and successful career of Kevin ‘Master Reese’ Saunderson
