SAM DFL began his musical journey playing in bands and, by the mid-90s, diving into electronic music. Emerging from South East London’s squat-punk scene, he played guitar and bass in legendary cult bands AOS3 and Headjam—among others—while simultaneously honing his studio craft and skills as a front-of-house and monitor engineer, mixing engineer, and producer. During this period he also began exploring breakbeat, drum & bass, and early electronic production.
His trajectory shifted again when he joined punk band Dogshite on bass alongside Acid Techno stalwarts Geezer, Chris Liberator, and Tiddles. This collaboration led to a series of Acid Techno projects with Chris Liberator, including a string of EPs released on labels such as Stay Up Forever and Acid Artists in Action (Triple A).
This creative partnership eventually resulted in Sam taking over the latest SUF Studio in North London, where he has spent recent years producing and engineering projects for artists across the Acid Techno scene, including D.A.V.E. The Drummer, Sortek, Gizelle, Tasha Killer Pussies, DDR, and many more.
Currently, Sam is performing a solo Acid Techno live set and is one-third of the new acid house project Servants Of Struggle (SOS) alongside the legendary Choci (of Choci’s Chewns) and Chris Liberator—a project already receiving support from Colin Dale and Mr. C.
Despite his deep roots in electronic music, Sam hasn’t abandoned his punk origins; he still finds time to play guitar in the punk-rock trio P.I.G., featuring ex-members of the seminal band Conflict.
